I can't seem to edit some blocks

Some of the blocks in my website template I can hover over and get the green box around them and then edit them in place. Others don't seem to do this and I have to hit the settings button on thos eones to edit them. But when I do this I don't get options to change fonts etc. 

Very frustrating, any ideas ?

  Some of the predefined event website blocks can only be edited through the "Update Website Theme" section (font and colors), whereas the text/image/video blocks can be separately edited by clicking on the block content directly.
