My guests are paying for a higher fee then I calculated
Hi, I set the fees for my event to be passed on to my invitees and tested it out, however, the fees are slightly higher then what I calculated based on your set fees (RSVPify 1.95% + $.90 + Stripe 2.9% + $.30). Please check this for me, maybe I did something wrong

Hi Keshon-
Happy to clarify!
The additional fee is coming from Stripe, as their fee is calculated based on the total amount being paid by the purchaser (not the ticket fee).
Because Stripe takes their percentage based on the total amount being paid by the attendee (not the base ticket price), passing on fees can result in slightly higher Stripe fees. In other words, the Stripe fee isn’t calculated based on the ticket value that the customer wants to buy but instead is based on the resulting total transaction amount, which adds the fractional stripe percentage of the calculated fees on top. Unfortunately, this is something we can control as it is calculated by Stripe.
I hope this helps clarify things!

Julia

I'm having this exact issue!!
We have our website ready to go and trying to start selling tickets ASAP but I tried to buy my tickets first to make sure everything was good and the calculation is wrong.
My total is $101. And it is charging me a total of $10.92 in fees. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how that calculation is broken down.

Hi Mildred-
Happy to clarify this for you!
The fee that is coming from Stripe is related to the total amount you paid, not just the ticket fee. Stripe takes their percentage from the grand total, so the fees can look higher than expected. That said, Stripe calculates the ticket price plus the fee you passed on and charges the credit card processing fee based on the total amount paid by the guest. Understandably, this might be an inconvenience, but it's something we are not able to change since the policy is set by Stripe.
Best,
Julia

Right....I understand that it comes off the total. That's normal for processing fees.
However if the total like I mentioned in my previous post is $101 then the fees shouldn't be $10.92 based on the set up fees (RSVPify 1.95% + $.90 + Stripe 2.9% + $.30).
Otherwise, could you please elaborate and do a breakdown of fees for me based on the $101 total?

Hi Mildred!
I popped into your out to review your registrations and provide a breakdown of how this works. I used the most recent registration in your event for this, but also feel free to outline which items were included in your test purchase (totaling in $101), and I'll be happy to calculate the fees for you for that as well!
Here is the breakdown:
RSVPify fees are per item (ticket/donation/add-on). This guest purchased 2 tickets, 1 x $25 and 1 x $35. RSVPify fee is:
$25 * 1.95% + $0.9 = $0.4875 + $0.9 = $1.3875
$35 * 1.95% + $0.9 = $0.6825 + $0.9 = $1.5825
Total RSVPify fee: $2.97
Stripe fee: $60 * 2.9% + $0.3 = $1.74 + $0.3 = $2.04
Total fees for this transaction are: $2.97 + $2.04 = $5.01
Hope this helps clarify but let us know if you have any additional questions!
Best,
Betty

Ahh that makes sense.
I was under the understanding that RSVPify would also charge on the total. So realistically it isn't Stripe fees that is making it seem more, it is your company's fees. Calculating fees on the total is going to be less than calculating it per item. We have some add ons at like $2 so of course the Stripe fee is pretty much taking that whole amount.
Thank you for responding. It would have been better had we got this information 2 weeks ago when I originally commented as our event is now only a week away. Due to not fully understanding the fees we ended up covering the fees ourselves.
