I only want to ask the group a follow up custom question, not each attendee. How can I do this? OR - only ask if the respondent RSVPs for more than one person.

  Hey Allison! - I saw that custom questions have an option to ask the question "once per group" or to "each attendee". You need to go to the settings of that block and then you'll be able to see it, here's a screenshot:
